Do you prefer Irish whiskey or Scotch whisky?

A dear friend of mine considers me a whisk(e)y heretic for having the nerve to say that I prefer Irish whiskey over scotch. I just enjoy the smoother stuff, all the warmth without the fire, and all that. That doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate a good single malt scotch, but I’ll take a glass of Jameson or Bushmills over Johnnie Walker any day. What do you think?
